SFL and the Editor-in-Chief Office of Xinhua News Agency Shanghai Bureau Sign a Cooperation Agreement

The School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Editor-in-Chief Office of Xinhua News Agency Shanghai Bureau signed a cooperation agreement in the afternoon of November 27th. Wang Yongqian, head of Xinhua News Agency Shanghai Bureau and Deputy Secretary of the Branch Party Group; Yang Jinzhi, Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency Shanghai Bureau; Hu Hao, Member of the CPC SJTU Standing Committee and Head of Publicity Department, and Chang Hui, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, attended the meeting.

At the signing ceremony, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on cooperation and co-construction, talent cultivation and future vision. Wang Yongqian said that in recent years, Xinhua has been aiming at the goal of "striving to build a world-class new type of all-media organization", adhereing to righteousness and innovation, accelerating integration and development, strengthening foreign-oriented communication, and playing an active role in popularizing new ideas, reflecting the voices of the people, documenting the spirit of the times, and spreading the voice of China. Based in Shanghai, Xinhua News Agency Shanghai Bureau will take the cooperation with the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University as an opportunity to promote the close integration of professional education and industry practice, strive to form a unique international communication education and practice platform, and help cultivate a high-level talent team to meet the needs of international communication in the new era.

Hu Hao said that Shanghai Jiao Tong University was one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in China and enjoyed a high reputation at home and abroad. The foreign language discipline has a long history of development and has achieved certain results in recent years in discipline construction, talent cultivation and social services. The two sides were expected to give full play to their respective advantages in information communication and higher education, and with the goal of cultivating international communication talents with solid foundation and outstanding practical ability, to conduct in-depth cooperation on internship practice, international communication courses, party building and other aspects, so as to help cultivate SJTU foreign language professionals' awareness and ability to serve our country's foreign-oriented publicity work with their professional knowledge and to deliver more excellent talents to the frontline of the country's foreign-oriented publicity work.  

Under the witness of the leaders and guests, Yang Jinzhi and Chang Hui signed the co-construction agreement on behalf of both parties. The two sides will aim to cultivate high-level talents for international communication in the new era, form a long-term mechanism for internship practice, and jointly promote extensive and in-depth cooperation between the two sides.
