Devotional for today: The Spirit of the Pharisee
Mathew 12

Pharisees have three characteristics:
1. They see, point out faults, but don’t stay to help.  12:2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

2. They ask questions, to get into arguments, but they have no interest in listening to the answer. 12:10 and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

3. They hear only what they want, but ascribe to Satan what really belongs to God. 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”

Solution? Speak the truth, and stay to help. Ask questions and keep an open mind. Be careful not to demonize others, just because they don’t use your methods doesn’t mean they are not being used by God.

Have a blessed day!
