Lead- The Uncomfortable Gospel

Sharing the Gospel is a blessing. It also has some uncomfortable aspects to it. Here are 3.

1. Uncomfortable position. 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” We are in the followship position in relation to Jesus. That is difficult. We like to lead, to be in charge, to make the decisions. In sharing Christ, Jesus said: “if you want to have success, follow MY lead!” It would be great to apply that principle in other areas of our life as well.

2. Uncomfortable request. 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” That means the receptive and the antagonist. The ones that you like and those who you don’t. That means people that smell, talk, look, and have the same values and those who are different. Jesus says: “go outside your nice, comfortable, little box.” Reach those, that you wouldn’t otherwise worry about, if it wasn’t for the gospel commission.

3. Uncomfortable order. 29:20 “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” The world is full of people that have great counsel for what OTHERS should do. Jesus establishes an order. You first. Then others. Don’t dare expect from others what you yourself are not immersed in. That is what Pharisees do. Pharisees are tough with others, but very lenient with themselves. Reverse that order.

Conclusion- the Gospel can make us uncomfortable, and that is a good thing.
